Platform-owned certifications–especially the free ones–can be a great way to get familiar with new software. But, let’s be honest,  they can also be a great way for businesses to sell their product. After all, Software as a Service (Saas) is an entire industry.

I like to keep my annual digital advertising platform, CRM, and ESP certifications up to date to give me an edge as a consultant and digital marketer. Not just to keep up with these ever-changing platforms, but to stay informed on what these companies believe is important about the software and services they are promoting. It can be so informative! Google tends to focus on new products they’ve spent a lot of time developing (Hello, AI-powered advertising!); HubSpot always prioritizes its ability to quantify ROI.
